The magistrate gave police the custody of Richard for 10 days. Richard was arrested from Qazigund town of south Kashmir on Saturday while he was trying to escape the Valley after allegedly stabbing 24-year-old Sara Elizabeth to death inside a houseboat room.

Richard has confessed to the murder during questioning by police, the sources said.
