The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved the construction of two broad guage line between Pirpainti-Jasidih in Jharkhand and Ajmer and Sawai Madhopur via Tonk in Rajasthan.

The line between Pirpainti-Jasidih situated in Mohanpur in Jharkhand will be constructed at a cost of Rs 915.96 crore.

While 50 per cent of the funding will be done through budgetary support, the rest will be done by Jharkhand government.

The line will be completed in five years during the 13th Plan period. Rail was necessary for providing direct connectivity to business centres in backward regions of Jharkhand and Bihar such as Pirpainti, Hansdiha, Godda and Jasidih.

The rail link will also serve the Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas of Jharkhand, an official statement said.

Meanwhile, the new broad gauge line between Ajmer and Sawai Madhopur via Tonk in Rajasthan will have a total length of 165 kms and will be constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 873.71 crore.

The project will also have a similar 50 percent funding through budgetary support and the rest by Rajasthan government. Rajasthan government will also provide land free of cost.

The line will be completed in eight years during the 13th Plan period.

It will also provide infrastructure support to the backward districts of Ajmer, Tonk and Sawai Madhopur as also an alternative route between Chittaurgarh and Sawai Madhopur on Delhi-Ahmedabad route, the statement added.
