New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Dr B K Mishra, Director of IIT Goa, on charges of amassing disproportionate assets during his tenure as the Director of Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar, (Odisha).

It is alleged that Dr Mishra has amassed huge assets, both movable and immovable, during his tenure as the director. The preliminary probe by the investigative agency puts the amount to the tune of Rs. 1,14,89,691 which is around 49% more than his known sources of income, during the period 01/04/2006 to 31/08/2016.

When the investigative agency asked him to explain this exponential increase in income, Dr Mishra failed to give a satisfactory response.

CBI conducted raids on his premises in Bhubaneshwar and Goa on Wednesday. Sources say the searches led to the recovery of certain incriminating documents which could lead the agency to the alleged ill-gotten wealth.

Dr Barada Kanta Mishra joined IIT –Goa as the Founding Director in March 2017. Earlier, he was a faculty at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, before joining CSIR – IMMT, Bhubaneswar.
