Hyderabad: Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Advisor to US President Ivanka Trump were enjoying a cultural performance at Taj Falaknuma Palace, the Telangana police received a hoax call saying "a bomb has been planted at the Falaknuma Palace".

The call was made at 8.43pm when PM Modi was hosting a grand dinner for Ivanka Trump and other Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) delegates at Hyderabad’s Falaknuma Palace.

Police began investigations to nab the culprit who made the call to 108 emergency service.

The police swung into action and informed the control rooms of all concerned departments.

The entire Falaknuma Palace was meticulously checked to ensure the safety of high profile dignitaries. The palace and its nearby areas were under a constant watch with 150 CCTV cameras installed at different locations.

The palace had a massive police deployment of over 2,000 officers during the event.

However, the police did not take a chance and arrested the accused, who was later found to be mentally-disturbed.

V Satyanarayana, DCP (south zone) said, "The call was traced to one Bontha Yellaiah, aged around 60 years, son of Gandaiah resident of Moula Ali of RachaKonda Commissionerate. When we took him into custody, it was confirmed that he is mentally unstable."

Police say, a case under the Mental Health Act has been registered against the accused at the Malkajgiri police station.

Police said that the man had received treatment at the Erragada Hospital between October 28 and November 24, in Erragadda Hospital. He was discharged on November 25 after a court order.

The police has seized his phone and is now considering to send him back to the hospital, citing his health condition.
