A naked swim at a tourist spot cost eight Chinese police officers their jobs after photographs of the incident went viral online on Monday.

A naked swim at a tourist spot cost eight Chinese police officers their jobs after photographs of the incident went viral online on Monday.

The public security bureau of Lushan County in central Henan Province said the eight male officers were sacked for "causing a negative impact" on the image of the police.

Three superiors of the auxiliary police too received penalties, including a demerit or sacking.

Authorities acted after photos circulated online showed eight nude men swimming in a river or standing on the shore, with their uniforms on the bank.

Two police vehicles were parked nearby, revealing their identities, the news report said.

The netizen who posted the pictures online said the nude swim took place at a scenic spot in Lushan.

Police authorities in Lushan confirmed the vehicles were used for patrols at the spot.
