The situation is a little bit like a Champions League final at the Brazilian GP, as all eyes will be on Vettel and Alonso.
It will be a duel between Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso as both men, separated by 13 points, vye for the third title. Both drivers are all set for the final showdown of the year at Interlagos on Sunday.
The situation will be like a Champions League football final, with both teams 2-2 with one minute to go. Red Bull, who have already clinched the constructor championship, now eye the drivers' title. So a lot will be expected from Vettel. As per the points tally, Vettel is in a very strong position, 13 points ahead of Alonso who will certainly need some magic to win the championship. Though the Red Bull star has been the season favourite, Alonso - who was world champion in 2005 and 2006 - has impressed with his driving.
Victory for Fernando would give him his third crown, if Vettel finishes lower than fourth in the race. Again, second place for Alonso would require Vettel to finish lower than seventh. Third spot for Alonso would need the German to finish lower than ninth in the race. So a resounding victory and a bit of lluck can only help Alonson on Sunday.
On the other hand, Vettel would become only the third driver to win three titles (he won in 2010 and 2011) in a row if he clinches victory at the Intergalos, following Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher.
Last weekend's race in Austin, Texas could have been the decider for the title but McLaren's Hamilton proved a party pooper after winning the US Grand Prix. His dramatic victory last Sunday, which he also termed as the best race of the year, denied Vettel the chance to win the Formula One title. Vettel's second-place finish and Alonso's third took the double world-champions to Brazil to decide who will seize a third title.
The result can't be predicted as both the drivers will come out with in top gear at the Interlagos in the last race of the season.
