Five Dead in Explosion in a House in Datia

While taking to Journalists, superintendent of Police Datia Irshad Wali confirmed that five people died in the blast.

Datia: Five people were killed and several others were injured in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

Police said the explosion was reported from a house in Sevdha area which had stored gun powder meant for fire crackers. The explosion triggered panic in the area.

While taking to Journalists, superintendent of Police Datia Irshad Wali confirmed that five people died in the blast.

In violation of norms, the firecracker unit was functioning in a residential area. Sources said that large numbers of families are engaged in firecracker manufacturing in the area.

Those killed in the blast were said to be inhabitants of the house. Relief and rescue operations were on till reports last came in.

State government announced Rs two lakh each ex-gratia next to the kin of those killed in the explosion. Local administration ordered an enquiry into the mishap.
