Five Killed as Dumper Hits Car on NH-24

Police said the accident happened around 3 am when the nine people were on their way to Meerut from the IGI airport in an Innova.

New Delhi: Five people were killed and four were injured after their car collided with a dumper in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri on NH-24 on Wednesday morning.

Police said the accident happened around 3 am when the nine people were on their way to Meerut from the IGI airport in an Innova.

A senior police officer said the dumper driver lost control over the vehicle. The dumper broke the railing and hit the Innova on the other side of the road.

Nine people were travelling in the Innova. They were taken to a hospital where five were declared brought dead. The condition of the injured is stated to be critical.

Eyewitnesses said that they could hear a loud noise when the two vehicles collided with each other on the highway.

Police said the driver of the dumper fled from the spot. The vehicle bears a Haryana registration number.

Police are looking for him to determine the exact sequence of events.
