Friday Release: Can 'Dirty Picture' meet the hype?
The makers have denied the reports of any resemblance of Vidya's character with sex siren Silk Smitha's life.

New Delhi: Movie enthusiasts have been waiting for the first public display of 'The Dirty Picture' since the arrival of its initial teasers. Vidya Balan's avatar as an ambitious actress has taken everyone with amusement.

Initial reactions to the film have started to pour in and most of them are positive in nature, which has made the audiences all the more excited about the film.

The makers have denied the reports of any resemblance of Vidya's character with southern sex siren Silk Smitha's life but media channels were abuzz with contrary reports just before the complaint registered by Silk's brother against the makers of 'The Dirty Picture'.

Judging by the excitement 'The Dirty Picture' has generated, it's easily among one of the most eagerly awaited films of recent times.

With the 80s film industry in the backdrop, it's an unbelievable journey of a commoner who rises to the position of the most sought after heroine from a make up artist.

The dusky beauty was not only sensuous but was also a workaholic. She had appeared in more than 30 films before she turned 23. Silk's super successful career might make her look like a wonder woman but she remained a simple girl at heart. A heart that became more fragile every time it got broken.

The dire consequences of emotional breakdowns led to the financial bankruptcy and eventually to a mysterious death.

If promos could be treated as the showcase window of the film then Vidya is all set to appear in her finest role.

The director Milan Luthria had hit the jackpot with his last film 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' and thus the audiences will be expecting a slick film from him.

Luthria has once again collaborated with Rajat Arora after 'Hattrick' and 'OUATIM'. Arora is one of the finest dialogue writers of present times and the promos of 'The Dirty Picture' are giving the glimpses of his potential. He belongs to that school of thought which sees dialogue as a tool to enhance the drama unlike some modern filmmakers who think that the dialogue should be closer to a normal conversation.

Luthria had debuted with 'Kachche Dhaage' in the year 1999 but a string of flops in the form of 'Chori Chori', 'Deewar', 'Taxi Number 9211' and 'Hattrick' followed, leaving the director desperate for a commercially successful film.

Balaji's 'OUATIM' finished the quest and thus the storyteller is returning with the same banner in 'The Dirty Picture'.

Emraan Hashmi, Tusshar Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah will assemble around Vidya Balan in a film which according to Karan Johar is her bravest performance till date.

Naseeruddin Shah's dance moves are no way lesser astonishing than Vidya's. Whatsoever of his expressions are revealed so far is capable enough to throw the viewers off-guard.

The composer duo of Vishal-Shekhar has left no stone unturned to create an album which can work as a tribute to the 80s style of music. 'Oo la la' and other songs have already become a rage.

'The Dirty Picture' seems to be all set to receive a grand opening but the film can't capitalise on it without a good story.
