Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Wednesday ordered appointment of "well trained" police personnel in the State Disaster Response Force constituted on the lines of NDRF in the wake of 2013 calamity.
At a meeting with senior officials, including DGP BS Sidhu, Rawat said selection of personnel for appointment to the SDRF should be done with utmost care so that they are able to perform in times of crisis.
He asked officials to ensure that "well trained and dedicated" police personnel inducted into the force and deployed well before the start of the rainy season in areas vulnerable to natural disasters.
It should be made clear to SDRF personnel that they will get special 30 per cent allowance for their services but their transfer requests will not be accepted, he said. He asked the DGP to make the special cell constituted to crack down on the mining mafia more effective.
