New Delhi: Heavy dust storms accompanied with rains lashed the national capital on Sunday evening bringing the mercury down to 31 degrees Celsius.

The relative humidity was recorded between 79 and 43 % on Sunday. The MeT department has predicted similar dust storm and thunderstorm on Monday.

The dust storm was recorded at a speed of 92 km per hour according to Palam observatory. According to the MeT department officials said the sky will be partly cloudy. Dust storm and thunderstorm, accompanied by squall, is likely to occur in some parts.

The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to hover around 37 and 26 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, nearly 27 flights scheduled for arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday evening were diverted to other nearby airports due to the bad weather. Out of the 27 flights diverted, six were of Air India.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flight was also diverted to Jaipur after it could not land in Delhi. Modi was on his way back from Karnataka after addressing a public meeting in Devangere. Modi's plane took off for Delhi on Sunday night after the weather was clear.
