New Delhi: 'Hotel California' is a name that has inspired filmmakers across the globe. The latest to get influenced by the name is director Aji John whose Malayalam film is called 'Hotel California'. The film features Anoop Menon, Honey Rose, Maria Roy and Aparna Nair. It has Shaan Rahman as music composer while cinematography is handled by Jithu Damodar.

The film has already been released on May 3, 2013 and received mixed responses from the critics. The film has been named 'Hotel California' because it talks about individual freedom, which was the central idea of famous Eagles song. This Malayalam film is about some strangers who meet at an airport and then some confusion happens among them which make them realise the importance of values. The genre of the film is action-comedy.

'Hotel California' was the fifth album produced by the famous band Eagles and it became an instant success after its release in late 1976. The title track of the album has been used in many films as reference point.

Even Hollywood came up with a film titled 'Hotel California' in 2008, which starred Erik Palladino and Tyson Beckford in pivotal roles. It was directed by Geo Santini. A documentary by the name 'Hotel California: LA from The Byrds to The Eagles' has also been made in the past.

Now, with Malayalam film industry embracing the name we can only hope for a prolonged life for the cult of 'Hotel California'.
