Bengaluru: A 48-year-old woman has alleged that she was hit by the car of Abhayachandra Jain - the Congress MLA from Karnataka's Moodabidri town - while she was walking on the street, throwing her into a nearby drain.

The woman responded angrily, asking the driver if "he could drive carefully".

Her question agitated Jain, who allegedly abused her and shoved her again. The woman fell on the ground and sustained injuries.

The incident was reported from Bajpe, on the outskirts of Mangalore, and a police complaint had been filed.

Jain, who briefly held a ministry under Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaih, has been previously accused of arrogant behaviour with a woman, and once even intimidating a journalist.
