Saradha scam: Kunal Ghosh remanded in CBI custody till September 12

The company's chairman Sudipta Sen and his accomplice Debjani Mukjherjee have also been remanded to judicial custody till September 18.

New Delhi: Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh has been remanded in CBI custody till September 12.

Ghosh will be interrogated by the CBI for the first time in relation to the Saradha Chit Fund scam.

The company's chairman Sudipta Sen and his accomplice Debjani Mukjherjee have also been remanded to judicial custody till September 18.

The Congress on Thursday demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the Saradha scam, referring to allegations that the group was favoured in getting a contract from the IRCTC in 2010.

However, the state ruling party has lashed out at the CBI accusing it of functioning as a "political organisation".

Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee and several of party leaders have questioned the CBI's role in probing the scam.
