The famous Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain has registered an over three-fold growth in its earnings during the last four years. The temple, which is one of the twelve 'Jyotirlingas', collected Rs 18.65 crore in 2012-13, as per temple sources.

Its income comes from donation boxes, sale of 'prasad' and silver coins, they said adding that its income was Rs 5.16 crore in 2008-09. Of the Rs 18.65 crore received in the last financial year, Rs 10 crore was spent on arrangements and developing facilities for devotees, sources said.

A meeting of the temple management committee is scheduled to be held on July 4 when the budget for the current financial would be presented, temple administrator and Joint Collector Jayant Joshi said.
