Mumbai: Deepa Mehta's film adaptation of Salman Rushdie's novel 'Midnight's Children' has been passed without any cuts by the Censor Boardof Film Certification (CBFC). The 62-year-old Indo-Canadian filmmaker's ambitious project, which is slated for a February release, has recently opened the ongoing 17th edition of International Film Festival of Kerala.

"India here we come-intact! Great news... Midnight's Children went through Indian Censor board today without one pic cut. Salman Rushdie and I thrilled," Mehta posted on Twitter.

The film tells the story of the partition of Indian on August 15, 1947. As India proclaims independence from Britain, two new-born babies are switched by a nurse in a Mumbai hospital.

Shot mostly in Sri Lanka, the film features an ensemble starcast of Satya Bhabha, Shriya Saran, Siddharth, Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas, Shahana Goswami, Rahul Bose, Soha Ali Khan and Darsheel Safary.
