Mumbai school boy hit by hoarding, dies

It is mandatory for all school buses in Maharashtra to have grilled windows but the bus didn't have any grills.

New Delhi: In a tragic incident, an 8-year-old boy travelling by his school bus lost his life on Thursday when his head hit a hoarding which was dangling from an electric pole in Central Mumbai.

Viraj had moved his head out to wave at his friends. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. It is mandatory for all school buses plying in Maharashtra to have grilled windows but unfortunately the bus didn't have any grills.

    The hoarding was originally placed at 12-feet above ground level but after the pole was hit by another vehicle earlier it had fallen down to seven feet, which was exactly at the level of Viraj's bus's window.

    As per rules, all the school buses in Maharashtra are supposed to have window grills which were missing in Viraj's school bus which led to his death.
