Prometric Testings Pvt Ltd - the US-based software company hired by CBSE for handling NEET 2017 has admitted that their software might have been hacked. In an ongoing CBI investigation into the NEET 2017 hacking, Prometric told the Delhi Crime Branch via a telephony call that the software breach was possible and could have helped students connect via internet. The CBI believes that the NEET 2017 software breach and cheating arrangement for the candidates was well planned in advance and the crime-masters asked the students involved to select specific examination centres for NEET 2017 exam.

The Crime Branch has prepared a 20-page chargesheet for the NEET Software hacking and had arrested four people. The chargesheet also carried the names of supervisors of the Chandigarh and Greater Noida NEET 2017 Examination Centres who are suspected to be involved in this software hacking and cheating case.

The Crime Branch has mentioned that Prometric Testings failed to identify the alleged ‘Ammyy Admin’ – that was used by the accused to hack the examination software. As per a police statement, the accused persons along with site-supervisors, engineers and technical staff managed to provide internet access to the students involved in NEET 2017 Scam. It was also found that the site-supervisor of Chandigarh Centre used the Ammyy Admin to connect the students with people outside who solved the papers on their behalf.

It is noteworthy that US-based Prometric Testings Pvt. Ltd had sub-contracted the NEET PG 2017 project to CMS IT Services Pvt Ltd. Which upon background research comes out to be based out of Bangalore, India. CMS IT Services Pvt Ltd had further contracted with M/S Apex Services to arrange technical staff at NEET 2017 examination Centres.

According to the crime branch, the localization of engineers and IT software sub-contracting played a pivotal role in this hack. The entire network of engineers, agents and supervisors helped the candidates to score a good Rank in NEET 2017 in exchange of hefty coffers.
