7 Patients Killed in Massive Fire at Vijayawada Covid-19 Care Facility

At least seven people were killed in a massive fire that broke out at a hotel which was converted as Covid-19 care facility in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred early on Sunday morning at Hotel Swarna Palace in the city, that was being used by Ramesh Hospital as the Covid Care Centre. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock and grief over the mishap and ordered inquiry into the incident. READ MORE

Oprah Sends Book on 'Caste' to CEOs That Compares America's Racism to India and Nazi Germany

Oprah is sending a book on caste to US governors, mayors, CEO and college professors. The book is Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist Isabel Wilkerson. The social media mogul Oprah on Tuesday said that this was her latest selection for her long-running book club and termed it as the most important one yet. Comparing the racism in America as caste hierarchy in India and Nazi Germany, the book examines race in the United States as a social hierarchy, with African Americans confined to the bottom.
