Swearing-in-ceremony of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh CM today
Kamal Nath, Ashok Gehlot and Bhuphesh Baghel will be sworn in today as the Chief Ministers of the state of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh. In an effort to forge a united opposition, Congress has invited various opposition party leaders including the BSP and SP, whose support had helped Congress to a clinching victory against the BJP in the Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan Assembly elections. DMK Working President M.K. Stalin, JMM leader Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha chief Babulal Marandi and Karnataka CM HD Kumarswamy are likely to attend the swearing-in-ceremonies. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh CM and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav have indicated that they won’t be attending the ceremonies despite having extended their support.

Cyclone Phethai likely to hit Andhra Pradesh coast today; state remains on high alert
Alerts have been sounded in all nine coastal districts of Andhra as storms are likely to hit today. The MET department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in isolated places along the coast and winds reaching speeds upto 55 kmph. CM Chandrabaibu Naidu has instructed the Collector to take the necessary precautions to prevent the loss of lives.
Delhi HC to Rule on Appeal Against Congress Leader Sajjan Kumar’s Acquittal
The Delhi High Court is likely to pronounce its verdict on the appeals challenging a trial court's judgment in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case in which Congress leader Sajjan Kumar was acquitted. A bench of Justices S Muralidhar and Vinod Goel had on October 29 concluded hearing arguments on the appeals filed by the CBI, riots victims and the convicts, and reserved the judgment.

Ranil Wickremesinghe took oath on Sunday before President Maithripala Sirisena, almost two months after the Sirisena sacked the incumbent PM Wickremesinghe and installed former rival Mahindra Rajapaksa in his stead. After Rajapaksa failed to secure a majority in the Parliament, Sirisena moved to dissolve the Parliament and called for elections on January 5th. The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, however, overturned his decision and declared that the dissolution of parliament was unconstitutional. Pakistan PM condemns the killing of Kashmiri civilians; will urge UNSC to address the issue
Pakistan PM Imran Khan has condemned the killing of seven civilians in Jammu and Kashmir by the Indian armed forces.Khan has stated that he will raise the issue with the UN Security Council. Seven civilians died on Saturday when security forces opened fire at an unruly mob that thronged the site of an encounter in south Kashmir's Pulwama district in which three terrorists and an army man were killed.
Three year old raped in Delhi
A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour at her house in southwest Delhi's Dwarka on Sunday afternoon. The minor girl was allegedly raped by one Ranjeet, who works as a guard and resides in the ground floor of the same building as the victim. The girl's parents were out on work when the incident occurred, a senior police officer said. The 40-year-old accused was beaten up by the people, following which he was taken to hospital for treatment. He was later arrested, the officer said, adding a case has been registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act. The girl is undergoing treatment and according to doctors she is now stable. Her father is a mason and mother a domestic help.
