Earlier this month, the CBI had registered a criminal FIR and conducted multiple searches against the former Bihar chief minister and others. Prasad's wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, and others will be probed by the agency under charges filed in the Enforcement Case Information Report(ECIR), the ED equivalent of a police FIR. The case dates back to the time when Lalu was the railway minister in the UPA government.
ED registers Money Laundering Case Against Lalu Prasad
In fresh trouble for RJD chief Lalu Prasad, the ED has registered a money laundering case against him and his family members in a railway hotels allotment corruption case dating back to the UPA tenure, an official said. The case has been registered under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The central probe agency has taken cognisance of a CBI FIR in this regard to initiate the move.

Former JD(U) president Sharad Yadav, who is apparently unhappy with Nitish Kumar’s return to the NDA fold, has got in touch with the Congress, according to sources. Sources said Yadav met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi at Jawahar Bhawan and has called a meeting of party MPs at his residence at 5pm on Thursday. This move comes even as there is a buzz that Yadav will be given a berth in the union cabinet by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Yadav has so far refused to answer questions on the political upheaval in the state, but sources said the Rajya Sabha MP is not happy with Kumar’s decision to break the grand alliance with the Congress and the RJD.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi says the BJP is in touch with MLAs from the RJD and the Congress, but won't need support when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar seeks a trust vote on Friday.
The new Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar will seek trust vote in the state assembly on Friday. Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi has asked the CM to take trust vote within two days of swearing-in. The Nitish Kumar government has the support of 132 MLAs which included 71 members of JD(U) besides 53 of BJP, RLSP 2, LJP 2, HAM 1 and Independent 3.Friday's session is likely to be a stormy one considering the belligerent mood displayed by the RJD which said it was not given a chance to form government despite being the single-largest party.

With Nitish Kumar taking oath along with Deputy CM Sushil Modi, hopes of getting a special status or fund for Bihar from Centre have gained ground.
Deputy chief minister of Bihar Sushil Modi said the party was in touch with a few MLAs from RJD and Congress, but was sure that BJP didn’t need their support. “We have the numbers. We have the support of 131 MLAs. We’ve asked for a floor test tomorrow. We are absolutely ready to prove our majority.”

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s allegation of Nitish Kumar’s betrayal, JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said, “Rahul has disappointed JD (U). Congress’ approach towards corruption is anyway not great and that’s why they had expected Nitish Kumar to overlook Tejashwi’s blatant corruption. But JD (U) and Nitish Kumar have always come down heavily on all those involved in corrupution.”

Congress sources said Bihar Chief Minister had not informed Rahul Gandhi of his decision to leave the Mahagathbandhan during their meeting in Delhi. Sources say that Rahul Gandhi kept on thinking till the end that Nitish would not quit and the Mahagathbandhan was safe. In fact, when he was asked recently about the situation in Bihar, Rahul told an ally, “It’s all ok now. Nitish will never join the BJP. He will stay with us.”
