Bhopal: If the murder of his girlfriend and burial inside his home under a marble block was not sufficient to stun many, the killer, a native of Bhopal, has shocked everyone, this time by claiming that he had earlier killed his parents as well.
Udayan Das accused of killing his girlfriend last year, has told police that he had murdered his parents in Raipur and buried them in the garden of his house there. Police are now busy ascertaining his latest confession.
Initially he was reluctant to talk about his parents as the police wanted to trace his parents to inform them about his arrest but after lengthy quizzing, he broke down and confessed to us that he had murdered both his mother and father in Raipur in the year 2010, SP (South) Sidharth Bahuguna said.
Now, joint team of Bhopal police and their counterparts from Bankura (West Bengal) will take Uadyan to Raipur for ascertaining his claim.
Initially, Udayan, who lives alone in his Saket Nagar-based bungalow, had told police that his father PK Das was a retired BHEL officer and died of cardiac arrest in 2004. Mother Indrani was retired DSP who served in MP and Chhattisgarh as well and lived separately with father and was in New York, he told police.
The neighbours too had affirmed that his father last visited him in the year 2004.
Udayan, who identified himself as an IITian and Indian Foreign Service officer who lived in US, was actually class XII pass out, revealed the police enquiry. Police have traced his half a dozen Facebook accounts with fake identities. He even boasted of meeting with US President and claimed to have had lunch with him.
Udayan,32, was in relationship with Akanksha (28) a native of Bankura in West Bengal and allegedly murdered her in July 2016 following a tiff and buried her inside his home under a marble block.
The killer had learnt the ways to bury the dead by watching television series ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘CSI’, the police said.
After the girl could not be contacted by the family in December last, they complained to Bankura police which traced her whereabouts to Bhopal as Udayan had started using her SIM card after killing her.
The West Bengal police accompanied by Bhopal police had arrested Udayan on Thursday and exhumed Akanksha’s body from the marble tomb.
