Opposition leader demands pay hike for themselves

Please include us in the Seventh Pay Commission. Our salaries are lesser than our secretaries. It looks like we are begging for money. We want an answer from the government. If they want to deny then they can. We want our salaries to be 1000 more than cabinet secretary, says Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal.

The MPs are insulted in India. Nowhere in the world, this happens. There should be a provision so that our salaries are atleast Rs 1 more than the senior most civil servant. People have to run their houses in Delhi plus their constituencies. The expense is high as many people pay a visit to the MPs, says former Union Minister Anand Sharma.

While the government on the one hand talks of going to Mars, on the other it provides no equipment or apparatus for such cleaning activities, he said. "Our sensitivities are dead," he said.
