Two bandits, wanted in many cases in the region, were arrested near Toll Plaza falling under Farah police station in Mathura on Saturday.

Nazim alias Kallu, a declared bandit carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head, and Akil, wanted in several heinous crimes in Aligarh, were arrested and Rs 40,000 cash and two country-made pistols with four live cartridges were recovered from them, SSP Gulab Singh said.

Both were members of a gang involved in road hold-up incident near Karanpur village on December 12, 2013.

Six cattle traders from Iglas in Aligarh and Mahaban in Mathura were robbed of over Rs 6 lakhs.

Three of the culprits were earlier arrested and Rs 1.7 lakh recovered from them. However, the gang leader, Bablu Kanda managed to escape, Singh said.
