Lucknow: After donkeys spent time behind bars for “eating costly plants” in UP, now it’s the turn of a dog. In a bizarre incident from Badaun, a dog has been detained by police as as two people are claiming ownership of the canine.

The incident was reported from Civil Lines area of Badaun where two people claimed that the dog was their pet. The police was called in and they took the animal to the police station.

After bringing the dog to the police station, the police let the two claimants go and detained the dog, saying that it will be handed over the real owner only after a proper investigation. The dog continues to stay at the civil lines police station of Badaun.

Speaking to media, CO City, Virendra Kumar Singh said, “There are two people claiming ownership of the dog. At the moment, the dog is in the police station. After investigation, the animal will be handed over to the real owner.”

According to sources, a person living in Maharajganj bought the Labrador around Diewali this year. One of the people involved in the dispute said the dog went out of the house one day and they could not find it. The canine was seen on a neighbour’s terrace and responded when his name was called out.

However, the neighbour claimed that the dog belonged to him and an argument ensued.
