Pre-paid auto service at Secunderabad station
The new service inaugurated on Thursday will prevent unscrupulous autorickshaw drivers from fleecing passengers...

HYDERABAD: Pre-paid autorickshaw service has been introduced at the Secunderabad railway station here. It was inaugurated by transport minister Botcha Satyanarayana on Thursday. On an average, 1.5 lakh passengers visit the station in a day either for boarding trains to other destinations or arrive from other places. It is expected that the new service will prevent fleecing of passengers by unscrupulous autorickshaw drivers. The pre-paid service booths will collect Rs 2 as service charge from passengers. Autorickshaw numbers, addresses and phone numbers of the drivers and passengers will be noted down by the booth operators and stored in a computer.A committee comprising representatives of the Hyderabad traffic police, autorickshaw drivers’ unions and passengers association, road transport officials, and railway officials prepared a chart of fares to various destinations in the city. Three booths have been set up near the main entrance and three on the Bhoiguda side of the station. Those who attended the inaugural include city police commissioner AK Khan, deputy commissioner of police (traffic) CV Anand and mayor B Karthika Reddy.
