Rs 155.73 cr sought from Kasab as compensation

The court, however, refused to pass any order on the plea after which the prosecution too did not press for it.

Mumbai: The prosecution in the 26/11 case on Thursday sought imposition of a compensation on Pakistani gunman Ajmal Kasab for causing huge damage to property to the tune of Rs 155.73 crore during the attacks but the court refused to consider the plea raising a query as to who would pay it.

Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam prayed judge M L Tahilayani for levying compensation on the 22-year-old Kasab as the attacks had caused damage to public and private property of nearly Rs 155.73 crore.

Asked by the court as to who would pay it, Nikam promptly said, "Lashkar-e-Taiba should pay."

When the judge inquired how the prosecution planned to approach the terror group, Nikam said, "That is our headache, Sir. We would go through diplomatic channels."

The court, however, refused to pass any order on the plea after which the prosecution too did not press for it.

Kasab was today awarded death penalty for murder,
