CHENNAI: Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), a worldwide Christian organisation, celebrated its 25th anniversary in India by offering scholarships to 25 children from all over the country. A public function and felicitation was held at Kamaraj Arangam in which Vice Consul of the United States Consulate in Chennai, Alyssa Caralla, was the Guest of Honour.RZIM India is part of the organisation, which spreads across Canada, USA, Singapore, UK, Hong Kong and UAE. With the Indian headquarters in Chennai, they are also present in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Trivandrum.Under their programme, “Touch of Hope”, the scholarships are meant to enable children to continue their studies in Classes 11 and 12. Ten children from the southern region were presented their scholarships by founder of RZIM, Ravi Zacharias. The scholarship will cover their tuition fee, text books, uniforms and other special fees required.SD Reuben, Chairman and CEO of RZIM India, spoke about the work being done here in India, and in Chennai. Vice Consul Caralla also addressed the gathering. A short video on the ministry was played and Ravi Zacharias gave the closing message.The programme was preceded by a musical session led by music director Vijay Ebenezer. Grammy award winner Tanvi Sha, and other renowned playback singers from the Tamil cinema industry — Krish, Sunitha Sarathy, and Prashanthini performed.
