Two members of a revenue official's team were injured after members of sand mafia allegedly attacked them while they were on duty to check illegal sand mining activity at Budhni in Sehore district.

Some members of sand mafia attacked D S Tomar and his team as they reached the Bisakhedi village where illegal mining was underway, Additional Superintendent of Police Amit Saxena said.

While the official escaped unhurt, his security guard and driver sustained injuries. The attackers fled the spot, leaving behind sand loaded vehicles which were later seized.

The revenue officer was directed by his senior, Sub Divisional Magistrate Neeraj Singh, to ascertain illegal sand mining activity at the village which is situated on the banks of river Narmada.

On the complaint of Nayab Tehsildar Avinish Mishra, a case was registered against Jagdish Keer, Golu Keer, Chouhan Keer and Vinay Keer.

While Jagdish Keer was later arrested, the other two are still at large. Police have launched a manhunt to nab them.
