Senior police official Suresh Mirghe, who was posted in Raigad when Sheena Bora was allegedly murdered, has claimed that he was refrained from filing an FIR into the case.
According to Mirghe's statement, accessed by CNN-IBN, he was asked by the then SDPO to check with the Superintendent of Police before filing an FIR into the Sheena Bora murder case.
In the statement, Mirghe said, "I was asked not to file FIR by Superintendent of Police RD Shinde."
Mirghe's statement further claims that he was asked by Shinde to send samples of the recovered body for chemical and DNA analysis.
"I had sent victim's right-hand bone, hair, teeth and skin samples for opinion," said Mirghe, adding that he had also sent part of the body to forensic laboratory in Kalina.
This comes a day after a gymnasium instructor has told the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that he had seen Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai at a forested patch in the Raigad district on April 25, 2012, where Sheena Bora's remains were found.
According to the CBI, Indrani and the other two strangled her daughter Sheena (24) inside a car on April 24, 2012, and then disposed of the body in a forest in Raigad district.
