Lucknow: A group of meat traders on Thursday met UP CM Yogi Adityanath to discuss issues related to raids on slaughterhouses and alleged harassment by officials.

After the meeting, UP Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh said the state meat traders have supported the action against illegal abattoirs.

Siddharth Nath Singh also assured that the government will look into shortage of meat supply in the state.

"The chief minister has assured the meat traders that this government is the government of all people. This government intends to abide by all Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines," said Siddharth Nath Singh.

The CM in the meeting said that his government is not working with any pre-conceived notions and also asked the officials not to take action based on caste, religion, Singh added.

The Health Minister also assured strict action against officials who are taking unjust advantage of the situation and going beyond their brief.

"This was a positive meeting. The government has heard concerns of meat traders," said Singh.

Meat exporter Sirajjudin Qureshi said the UP CM Yogi Adityanath has assured them that strict action will be taken against those officers who are misusing power.

"It was a successful meeting. The traders met the CM for more than half an hour. He heard all of us and assured action against errant officials," said Qureshi.

Qureshi also said they brought to CM's notice about many export slaughterhouses being shut for smaller violations and the CM assured them to look into it.
