Samajwadi Party on Monday declared Raghunath Gupta as its candidate from East Champaran (Motihari) constituency in Bihar.
Gupta's name has been finalised by SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury said.
Gupta is an old SP leader and had been in jail for 19 months during Emergency, he added.
