Students' Union organised rallies to protest against Chinese army incursion

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) and the All Mishmi Students' Union (AMSU) have organised joint rallies to protest against the August 11 incursion by Chinese army at Chaglagam.

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) and the All Mishmi Students' Union (AMSU) have organised joint rallies to protest against the August 11 incursion by Chinese army at Chaglagam.

AAPSU and AMSU brought out the rallies at Lohit and Anjaw districts on Monday. The rallyists submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioners of the two districts for onward submission to the Governor and the Union Defence Minister. "Arunachalees are Indians and we will not give an inch of our land to China. Given the seriousness of the incident, the silence of our government is perplexing, and we need an explanation," AAPSU finance secretary Suraj Tayam said in a statement on Tuesday.

"If there is no response from the state government and the Centre, the AAPSU will resort to staging statewide dharnas and protests," Tayam said. Lack of road connectivity and communication bottlenecks along with absence of army bases along strategic points like Chaglagam were the flaws in the system that the Chinese were exploiting, the memorandum said.
