Terrorist Dubbed 'Headley II' Arrested in Varanasi, Major Attack Averted

Much like David Coleman Headley, an American terrorist of Pakistan origin, and a spy who conspired with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in plotting the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Naeem is alleged to have made videos of Kashmir army camps, power plants.

New Delhi: A terror suspect, dubbed 'Headley II', was arrested in Varanasi on Tuesday in a joint operation by security agencies. He was identified as Abdul Naeem from Maharashtra and is alleged to be close to 26/11 accused Abu Jundal.

Much like David Coleman Headley, an American terrorist of Pakistan origin, and a spy who conspired with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in plotting the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Naeem is alleged to have carried out recce mission involving some vital installations, including Army camps and power projects in Kashmir. He is also reported to have visited Kasol, in Himachal Pradesh, and had plans to attack Israeli and other foreigners, said sources.

Security agencies believe that Naeem was planning a terror attack in Delhi, UP, Himachal Pradesh. Naeem's handler too has been arrested from a Middle East country.

Naeem was wanted in connection with a terror case since 2014 and had been on the run. This arrest was a multi-agency operation which was monitored by NSA.
