TMC's former gram pradhan, CPI(M) worker in Nadia murdered

TMC leader Anisur Rahaman Mondal (55), resident of Nadia's Fajil Nagar village under Thanarpara police station was hacked to death when he was returning home on a bicycle at around 3.30 PM

Nadia: A Trinamool Congress leader and former pradhan of Nadia district's Narayanpur-1 Gram Panchayat under Karimpur Block 2 and another CPI(M) worker of

the same panchayat was murdered by unidentified persons this afternoon, police said.

TMC leader Anisur Rahaman Mondal (55), resident of Nadia's Fajil Nagar village under Thanarpara police station was hacked to death when he was returning home on a bicycle at around 3.30 PM, they said.

Within half an hour of Mondal's murder, CPI(M)'s Haque Saddin Shaikh (58), resident of the same village, was shot dead inside the Narayanpur-1 Gram panchayat office, police said, adding, that both died on the spot.

"Some miscreants hacked Anisur to death. Later, allegedly as revenge, another group shot dead Haque Saddin inside panchayat office," Nadia SDPO Sunil Sikdar, who rushed to the spot along with district police super Sabyasachi Raman

Mishra, said.

Though no FIR was lodged and no one was arrested in this connection, a police picket has been posted as tension prevailed in the area, Sikdar said.

TMC and CPI(M) leadership in the district blamed each other while locals hinted an old political grudge as the fallout of the two murders.
