Twitter updates Vine for Android app, adds Facebook sharing, hashtags

Vine lets users record six-second-long video clips, which can then be seamlessly embedded within tweets.

New Delhi: Close on the heels of the introduction of video for the photo sharing application Instagram, Twitter updated its video sharing Android app and added new features including Facebook sharing and searches for hashtags and users.

Vine now lets users search for posts by way of hashtags or mentions of a user name. The new app allows users to share their Vine videos to Facebook.

The updated app is now available in the Google Play store. The company tweeted, "Vine for Android update is now in Google Play - includes search, hashtags and mentions, sharing to Facebook & more."

Vine lets users record six-second-long video clips, which can then be seamlessly embedded within tweets.

Facebook on Thursday rolled out a video service for Instagram, following in the heels of Twitter's growing video-sharing app, Vine. The move seems to be intended to take aim at Twitter's Vine video platform that allows users to record and share six-second videos.
