Bengaluru: Two labourers were suffocated to death while cleaning a clogged drain of a restaurant in Bengaluru’s HAL area.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when Ramu got into the tank, connected to the underground drainage system, to clean it but started gasping for breath. Hearing his scream, Ravi jumped to his rescue but both got trapped in the sludge.
The local residents immediately informed the fire and emergency officials about the incident, who rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies.
A case has been registered in this regard. While Restaurant manager Ayush Gupta and caretaker Venkatesh have been arrested, the hotel owner is yet to be apprehended.
