Imagine veteran filmmaker Woody Allen playing the role of a pimp. Hard to believe? But that is exactly what he portrays, as a books seller-turned pimp, in the upcoming romantic comedy/farcical film 'Fading Gigolo'.
Written and directed by John Turturro, the film explores the concept of 'menage a trois', a "domestic" arrangement where three consenting adults having sexual relations occupy the same household. Turturro plays the titular role as an underemployed florist-turned gigolo.
The film stars several big names including, Turturro, Allen, Sharon Stone, Sofia Vergara, Liev Schreiber and Vanessa Paradis, among others.
Turturro's last film as a director was 'Romance and Cigarettes' in 2007, and starred James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, and Kate Winslet in the lead roles.
The film is set to release in the US on April 18.
