Mumbai: The Kolhapur police that is probing senior CPI leader Govind Pansare murder case on Thursday informed a local court that their probe shows a Sanathan Sanstha member, Vinay Pawar, having recceed the crime scene.

Police sources said they suspect Pawar to be one of the two motorcycle borne assailants.

Pawar has been described as one of the two assailants in rationalist Narendra Dabholkar murder by the CBI in its chargesheet filed on Wednesday.

Investigators said that Pawar is a friend of Sanathan Sanstha member Samir Gaikwad, the first arrested accused in the Govind Pansare murder case.

Pawar has been absconding.

ENT specialist Dr Virendra Tawde, who has already been named main conspirator in Dabholkar murder case was formally arrested by the Kolhapur police on Saturday for his suspected role in the murder of Pansare.

The police also informed the court that it recovered large quantities of psychotropic drugs from the Panvel ashram of the Sanathan Sanstha in a raid. It is unclear what these psychotropic drugs were being used for.
