New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Donald Trump for the first time on Tuesday at the White House. Both leaders spoke on fighting terrorism and improving trade ties after their meeting, which was marked by warmth and bonhomie between the two leaders.

As is the tradition, PM Modi took with him a few gifts for the President and his family. The PM presented POTUS a folio containing an original commemorative postal stamp that had been issued by India in 1965. The stamp had been issued in 1965 to mark the death centenary of President Abraham Lincoln. “The stamp honoured the memory of a great American President and symbolised closeness of the ideals for which Lincoln stood and which drove Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi),” said PMO.
