Wozniacki, Lisicki storm into second round of Wimbledon

London: Caroline Wozniacki reeled off four consecutive games to complete a 6-3, 6-0 win over Israel's Shahar Peer in a rain-suspended first-round match at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

Wozniacki led 6-3, 2-0 when play was stopped by showers late on Monday.

The 16th-seeded Wozniacki lost in the first round at the French Open a week after her engagement to two-time major golf champion Rory McIlroy was called off.

In another match, last year's runner-up, Sabine Lisicki of Germany, advanced to the second round on Tuesday with a 6-2, 6-1 win in less than hour over Julia Glushko of Israel.

Lisicki was given the first match assignment on Centre Court on Tuesday usually reserved for the defending champion. But Marion Bartoli of France, who beat Lisicki in last year's final, has retired and the honour fell to Lisicki.

The 19th-seeded Lisicki finished the match with a break of Glushko's service on a net cord. Before the match, Bartoli was part of a tribute to Elena Baltacha, the former British No. 1 who died of liver cancer on May 4 at the age of 30.
