Kudampuli or commonly known as Malabar Tamarind are found in tropical countries. Also known as Garcinia Cambodia, Garcinia gummi-gutta and brindleberry, Kodampuli is a little yellow fruits that looks like pumpkin.

Kudampuli Rasam
Ingredients:
Kudampuli
Boiled Toor Dhal
Rasam Powder
Turmeric powder
Asafoetida
Water
Ghee
Mustard Seeds
Cumin Seeds
Curry leaves
Salt
Method:
Soak kudampuli in water for few minutes and extract thick juice.
Take a pan, add kudampuli extract, toor dhal water, turmeric powder, water, salt and let it cook covered on medium flame.
Add rasam powder and stir.
Take another pan and heat ghee. Add mustard seed and once the seeds pop, add cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves.
Saute for few seconds on low flame and add it to rasam.
Kudampuli Fish Curry
Ingredients:
Fish
Grated coconut
Chilli powder
Coriander powder
Turmeric powder
Salt
Green chilli
Curry leaves
Kudampuli
Coconut oil
Method:
Clean and cut the fish into medium pieces.
Grind coconut, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and make a smooth paste.
Add green chilli, curry leaves, kudampuli extract and salt and water
Marinate the fish with the paste
Place an earthen pot on the stove and put the mixture into it.
Keep the flame high till the curry boils.
Once the curry boils, pour coconut oil to it.
Cook it for 5 minutes then reduce the flame.
Remove from flame as the curry thickens enough.
