Contrary to many people’s belief that you should not eat anything before Yoga, it's important to eat something so that you don’t feel hungry while performing the yoga asanas. Also, you need a lot of energy to perform Yoga, and thus, food eaten before the session acts as a fuel.

Here are 5 Things which you can eat before a Yoga session:

1. A Healthy Smoothie
A healthy smoothie made with bananas or avocados, mixed with some cocoa and coconut water can act as a perfect fuel for Yoga. You can have this smoothie to get the most out of your Yoga session. If you want, you can add some almonds as well.

2. Almonds
Almonds not only boost your energy and provide fiber, but also ensure that you don’t feel hungry in the middle of the yoga session. A handful of almonds can keep you full for long.

3. Apples
Apples contain a lot of fiber and water, and are a great source of Vitamin C. These are low in calories and won't make you feel heavy after eating. They can provide the energy that you need during the yoga session.

4. Bananas
Bananas are potassium-rich fruits which make an excellent pre-workout diet. They elevate your mood, make you feel full and their magnesium content helps in preventing bloating and cramps.

5. Raisins
Another dry fruit that you can munch on before a yoga session are raisins. Being an amazing source of natural sugar, these can provide immense energy for performing yoga.
These five light foods can make you thrive in your yoga session. Just keep in mind that like any other physical training, you must allow one hour gap between these foods and yoga. If you are going for the yoga class after your last heavy meal then you should wait for at least two hours before starting, to maximize your benefits from Yoga.
