1. Steam

Common cold is caused mainly due to viral infection and hot steam is the best way to kill the virus. Opt for two to three sessions of hot vapors steam. Put eucalyptus oil for added benefit. Besides dealing with the viral infection, steam also helps soften the mucus, thereby giving you a huge relief from a headache and strained muscles.

2. Drink Soup/Green Tea/Hot Water

Stay hydrated! Consume vegetable or chicken-broth soup, drink green tea with a spoonful of honey, or grab a cup of slightly hot ginger-infused water. Also, sip-in warm water through the day to keep yourself hydrated and loosen the mucus. Also, gargling with saline water helps immensely.

3. Honey + Black Pepper

Treat yourself with a teaspoon of honey and black pepper rather than opting for sugar-laden lozenges. Honey and black pepper will provide instant relief from a sore throat.

4. Take Rest

Taking rest is crucial to up your body’s natural mechanism to fight cold and symptoms attached to it. Cover yourself aptly and get some extra sleep to de-stress yourself and let the immune system do its work.

5. Avoid sugary and fried food

You must avoid sugary and fried foods as these items make your immune system even weaker, thereby, increasing the recovery time.
