Protein is the quintessential nutrient that cannot be ignored if you wish to live an energetic and healthy life. If you have set high life-goals for yourself like accumulating wealth, reaching highest leadership levels or achieving super personal growth then one thing that is pre-requisite to all your goals is – a healthy body. Treat it like a machine that is required to be in its best shape to give maximum/optimum production. And for this machine to work properly it needs fuel, the fuel that is called protein!

Protein not just helps in building or repairing your tissues, it is essential for brain chemistry, energy levels, and immune system too! Here are 6 things you must consider for optimally resourcing protein and optimally utilizing the same:

1. First Meal of the Day

Whole Proteins take time to absorb, therefore a protein-rich breakfast should be on your menu every day, all your life. It will not only keep you full for longer but will give your body time to break it down and let it reach the cellular level.

2. Keep the Water Away

During meals, you must avoid water to let your digestive system produce just enough acid to break down the protein and other nutrients from your food. When you drink water during mealtime, the stomach has to work-up more acid to digest food.

3. Fruits & Vegetables

Protein needs the help of vitamins, antioxidants, dietary fiber and minerals to get absorbed fully. Therefore, gorging on whole fruits and leafy vegetables is essential even if they are not too rich in protein content.

4. How Much Protein Every Day?

As per experts, a healthy but inactive person requires 0.5 grams protein/pound of body weight every day. Therefore if you are a woman who weighs 120lbs you must aim at consuming at least 60 grams protein every day.

5. The Right Mix of Sourcing Protein?

Protein from Animals as well Plants are required to fulfill the daily demand of this building block. Including plant-based protein from sprouts, spinach, green leafy vegetables, cruciferous veggies, soy, legumes, grains, nuts and seeds along with animal-based proteins like dairy, fish, poultry, lean meat and eggs can easily fulfill your daily protein requirement.

6. The Right Time to Consume Protein?

1. The best time to consume protein is in the morning.
2. Also, one must split the protein consumption through the day with at least 4-5 intervals.
3. If you are exercising, you must give a gap of 2 hours between whole proteins and your gym time.
