Blackheads are those disdainful pores that combine oil and dust and keep them embedded on the most visible parts of our face. A nose full of blackheads, cheeks barbed by those tiny black peeps and that chin and forehead saddled by comedones is enough to put your mood off. How much you stay regular with your parlor regime, it is not enough to keep your pores clean and clear. It is the regular personal skin care that gives men and women healthy and shiny pores that reflect goodness on your skin.

There is a plethora of blackhead remover strips, exfoliants and treatments available in the market, but it is the natural treatment that wins hearts of us Indians. Also for our adolescent kids, undergoing hormonal changes, blackheads are the first noticeable change in their face. Going for the natural exfoliants is gentler on skin as compared to readymade chemical-based cosmetic products. We’ve jotted below 5 ways to get rid of blackheads the healthy natural way. Let’s take a look:

1. Fruit Peels

Use fruit peels of oranges or lemons by drying them in sun and grinding thereafter. Mix this fruit peel powder with a few drops of water or honey to make a smooth paste like exfoliant. Use it on the entire face and neck focusing a bit more on the blackhead prone areas like nose, chin, cheeks and forehead. You can use these fruit peel scrubs every alternate day to keep the skin glowing and unclogged.

2. Fruit Masks

Fruit masks are great for sensitive or acne-prone skin as the skin can get aggravated by scrubbing and these masks require just a gentle application followed by washing them off. For dry skin, you can make a banana fruit mask by mashing a banana and mixing some honey in it. For oily skin, use raw papaya mask.

3. Honey and Oatmeal

If you thought that honey and oatmeal was a popular combo for cookies, then let us tell you that it is great for treating blackheads and keeping your pores clear too. Just mix equal amount of oatmeal and honey, add a bit of milk to work up a good consistency. Use this oatmeal based scrub to shoo away dead skin cells and bring the glow on your lovely face.

4. Honey and Lemon

Again honey and lemon work wonders with lukewarm water not just internally but externally too. Just mix equal amounts of honey and lemon and apply on your face and neck. Wash it off with luke-warm water after 10-15 minutes. The anti-microbial properties of this mix give relief in acne besides clearing your pores.

5. Steam and Scrub

All the above scrubs, masks and mixes work wonders if they are done after giving steam to your affected area. While going for a full face steam is great, but given the time we have, the same impact can be given by applying a face towel soaked in hot water on the face and neck. Take 10-15 mins steam and follow up with the fruit-peel-powder scrub or the honey-oatmeal-milk combo.
