Buckled and spiked leather collars to the synthetic, tattoo-inspired version of the 1990s, the choker necklace has wrapped itself around the necks of everyone in the Tinsel town. In fact, it's believed to be the first submissive accessory adorned till date. Chokers come in varied sizes, shapes and fabrics. Most common ones are lace chokers, broad chokers and simple black chokers.

Shifting between being cool in one decade and coming back a few later, worn as a vintage ode to an era bygone, the choker trend went up-and-down in popularity. And today, it's back in full swing.

We link the rise in popularity of the 90's favourite chokers to our beloved style inspirations: celebrities.

Chokers are not just meant to be black and strappy. Gigi Hadid’s dazzling choker perfectly complemented her spaghetti strap outfit.

Deepika Padukone channeled her inner princess in a designer traditional choker at Manish Malhotra’s Fashion show at ICW 2016. She stunned the ramp in a embellished red lehenga paired with an off-shoulder blouse.

Chokers with a small charm or pendant look cute as well as fashionable. Kim Kardashian made a stylish appearance in a black charm choker and a nice combination of track pant with body suit.

Pearl chokers make for a classy style-statement. Sonam surely knows how to make a stylish appearance. She paired her necklace with a black strap off-shoulder dress for a classy look.

Go experiment with a black and embellishment fusion choker just like Kendall Jenner. Fusion chokers paired with western outfits make for a great combination.

Studded choker is a style-statement in itself. Shraddha paired her black studded choker with a casual dress for an event. She summed up her look with kohled eyes and a Chanel sling bag .

Jacqueline had her fashion game strong in an embellished broad choker and an all black outfit. She looked stunning with minimal makeup and a long braided hair-do.
