Having said that, now what exactly is Colic?
Babies suffering from colic have bouts of intense, loud and inconsolable crying, for three hours or more a day, for no apparent reason and around the same time each day.
Apart from crying, babies tend to clench their feet, curl up their legs and suffer from swollen stomach.
Even though they seem to have belly pain, colic babies eat well and gain weight like other babies.
It's estimated that up to 40% of all infants have colic. It usually starts between the 3rd and 6th week after birth and ends by the time the baby is 3 to 4 months old.
Difficult as colic sounds, it isn't dangerous and does vanish after three months.
However, if your baby still suffers from severe symptoms of colic like vomiting, fever, diarrhea even after three months then medical help is what you really need.
