With a confident personality, intense sensuality and a self-assured kind of freedom, Schiaparelli brings together all the facets of the modern woman in its fall/winter 2017-2018 haute couture collection, presented Monday, July 3 in Paris. Contrary to expectations, this fall collection channels light and weightless inspirations.

The couture fashion house presented a highly sophisticated and modern collection, keeping lightweight and airy themes in a season that's more usually associated with heavy coats. Creative director Bertrand Guyon once again paid homage to Elsa Schiaparelli with the collection's surrealist spirit, with details like music notes, nods to Picasso or the emblematic lobster embroidered on a crisp white jumpsuit.

Most silhouettes in the collection seemed to be in perpetual movement. The models moved with grace and determination in gowns made from crepe, chiffon or ruched tulle, with creations combining volume and lightness. A host of hearts embellished certain silhouettes, like a shower of subliminal messages.

Colors range from white to black to opalescent shades, with some touches of red and yellow, and, of course, shocking pink.

Schiaparelli was also keen to highlight the "Crystal²" dress, made in collaboration with Swarovski. For this haute couture creation, Swarovski Crystal Fine Mesh is used for the first time as a veritable fabric enhanced with embroidered crystals for a spectacular 3D effect. The dress features rectangles of white, yellow and pink crystals making a graphic pattern.
