Actor-turned-fitness enthusiast Shilpa Shetty Kundra turned muse for designer Monisha Jaising, who showcased her couture collection titled 'Opera' at the ongoing India Couture Week (ICW) 2017 at The Taj Palace in New Delhi.

The star dazzled in a 'Opera red' ensemble as she walked the ramp with her usual grace and style. Dressed in a red brocade outfit, woven in Benaras, which featured gold zari work, Shilpa exuded glamour on the runway and looked every inch the diva that she is.

And although the 42-year-old star started off the long walk with her usual confidence, her appearance was briefly interrupted as the garment got stuck not once, twice but several times before the show finally ended. The designer too came to Shilpa's rescue, as the garment got stuck yet again, when the two took to the ramp to take a final bow in front of the audience.

Nevertheless, Shilpa pulled off the walked with utmost professionalism and elegance. She put on a lovely smile as she turned showstopper for Monisha Jaising and looked gorgeous on the runway.

During her interaction with the media post the event, Shilpa spoke about her 'interrupted' walk on the runway. She said, "The ramp had a couple of nails and I was dreading it...its where the outfit got stuck, but these things happen."

Speaking about designer Monisha Jaising's collection during the media interaction, the 42-year-old B-town beauty said, "I would find it difficult to choose a singular piece. It was absolutely stunning."

The designer, who is best known for her evening wear that feature an interesting blend of western and eastern details, showcased garments which were inspired by her fond memory of the Opera House flowing with people in their best garbs.

Elaborating on her collection, the designer said, "Having been to the Opera in the past, the inspiration for my collection was triggered by the fond memory of the Opera house flowing with people in their finery. I find the whole process of displaying this finery starting from the entrance, walking up the palatial stairways, to the seating area to be exceptionally enticing. You can sort of say that it is a fashion show for the people by the people."

Talking about Shilpa's garment in particular and why she chose the star to close the show for her, the designer said, "What I wanted to show in this dress is a very western set up which was the Opera so you could be anywhere in the world and I wanted a very Indian look with an international feel. So, I chose Shilpa for that, because she is one of our Bollywood stars who has an international feel. So, I wanted to use her in this Indian outfit and drape her in this modern gown."

The collection radiated elements of exuberant fabrics and free-flowing silhouettes. The line comprised of a wide range of fabrics composed of lame, velvet metallics, tulle, chikankari, Italian organza, banarasi, metallic satin and more.

Since the collection took inspiration from the Opera House, the colour palatte of each couture piece was influenced and inspired by the strong character and fragility of the Opera singer. The colour story smoothly transitioned from burgundy to rose pink, metallic to ice blue.

The collection perfectly harmonised with the evolution of flaunting one's best attires and the mesmerising dynamics of performance on stage.
